Reasons Why Troubled Teens Use Bad Behavior to Cover up Pain

Acting out, or rebellious behavior may be a pattern of exhibiting inappropriate behavior to hide up deeper feelings or problems, including worry, pain, or loneliness. Teenagers are well known for demonstrating how they feel through their misbehavior instead of through talking concerning it straightforwardly. Initially the term "acting out" was utilized by Freud to explain certain behaviors that occur throughout the process of psychotherapy. The term is now used casually by psychological state professionals to describe this tendency in teens to express unhappiness through their actions.

Acting out and dealing Through Difficult Feelings

Most teens don't understand this is what they're doing. Rather than letting individuals see them vulnerable and opening up about what's bothering them, troubled teenagers choose the isolation and singling out that acting out behaviors causes. The ultimate goal of treatment is helping them understand the connections between how they feel and the way they act and permitting them to practice expressing themselves rather than acting out.

By giving an adolescent an outlet, outside of the spotlight to express him or herself, you're providing them the time they have to work through feelings they'll have never examined before. As they rehearse the emotions and what might have caused them, keep an open mind and permit them to talk, although the sentiments don't add up or connect well with the actions of others.

To help teens who are acting out, provide them with an outlet to express themselves. The goal is to permit them to look inside themselves rather than redirecting pain towards others.

Example

Rohit, age 16, is being defiant to his academics. Once asked to do something, he responds in an exceedingly sarcastic manner, typically cursing at the teacher. John is studying in boys school in dehradun. he has been acting this manner ever since a lady he cared for deeply broke up with him to date another guy. On the within, he feels rejected and insecure regarding himself. On the outside, he acts powerful and pretends he doesn't care what happens to him to protect himself from being hurt more. Rohit isn't aware that his distress about this breakup is that the reason for his acting out behavior in school.

What to do regarding Acting Out

While acting out will typically be connected to the problems an adolescent is struggling with, nothing in their lives changes until an adolescent begins to deal with the explanations behind the behavior. Once oldsters see an adolescent acting out, this is often a strong warning sign the teenager is pain and needs help to adequately express their pain and take care of what's really disturbing them.

If your teenager has been acting out, try to sit them down in a neutral setting to get to the root of what is also disturbing them. You'll learn that they need some healing to do. Why not be that voice of reason they have to get past negative thoughts regarding themselves or past hurts.
